Vision
I hope to be an educator that doesn’t just teach procedural skills or skills based on memory, but rather dispositions like creativity, problem-solving, innovation, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, reflective thinking, and personal and social awareness and responsibility. I hope that I can provide novel opportunities for my students to expand their world view and give them plenty of opportunities to develop these skills. I also hope to be a leader in my field promoting the integration of making, art, design, and technology in Education. This vision is important to me because it is what I am passionate about. As educators it is our responsibility to equip students with the skills and dispositions they need to thrive in the twenty-first century. As they develop these critical dispositions they will learn to pursue their passions and engage in deep lifelong learning.
Graduate Diploma of Education
The Graduate Diploma of Education (Exploring Making: Art, Design, and Technology in Education) program is helping me strengthen my practice. It is also helping me develop strategies for creating a caring and socially responsible learning environment that fosters a culture of creativity, exploration, engagement, innovation, and discovery.
